Pausing before you respond in a stressful moment strengthens your self-regulation and emotional control—two essential aspects of emotional intelligence. Counting to 10 gives your mind a chance to shift from a reactive mode to a more thoughtful, constructive and intentional one. This small practice helps you communicate with clarity, avoid unnecessary conflict, and lead with calmness and composure, even under pressure.
